Bayntun-Riviere Binding

The Poetical Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson

(Later edition)

First edition, 14th printing (first printed in 1899.)  5" by 7½", 646 pp., fully indexed. "The Globe Edition." Beautifully bound in ¾ tan morocco over marbled boards, raised bands and gilt title and devices on the spine, top page edges gilt, nicely marbled end papers with the small hand stamped binder's "signature" of Bayntun (Riviere), Bath, England on the top verso of the marbled free front end paper. There is the former owner's blind stamp on the second free front end paper, and there are a few traces of foxing, confined to the end papers and the fore-edge; else this is a very nice clean copy, "the luxurious binding tight and sound, the book itself a proud little treasure in its Sunday best."
