This item was part of a large lot of manuscripts assembled by a Chicago banker, packed up in the 1930's, and discovered in the 1990s. Many had been bound in this style. Very nicely done, and includes gold lettering on the spine. Additional blank pages were bound in front and back to increase thickness, and the top edge gilt.
